About Zylo

Privacy-First
Mesh Communication

Zylo is built on a simple belief — private communication should not depend on a central server or an internet connection.

The Problem We Solve

Traditional messaging apps route every message through central servers. Even with encryption, the server knows who is talking to whom, when, and from where. In areas with poor connectivity or in emergencies, these apps simply stop working.

Zylo is different. Messages travel directly between nearby devices using Bluetooth and WiFi Direct — no central routing server involved.

How the Mesh Works

When you send a message to someone who is not directly reachable, Zylo automatically routes your encrypted message through nearby participating devices:

You → Phone B → Phone C → Recipient

The critical detail: Phone B and Phone C never see your message content. They only pass along an encrypted packet they cannot read. Their UI shows nothing — no notification, no chat bubble, nothing.

End-to-End Encryption

Every message is encrypted before leaving your device using asymmetric encryption. Only the intended recipient — who holds the private key — can decrypt it.

  • Private keys never leave your device
  • Our server stores only public keys for identity verification
  • Messages are never stored on our servers
  • Even we cannot read your conversations

Transport Technology

Zylo uses Android's Nearby Connections API which supports both Bluetooth and WiFi Direct:

📶 Bluetooth

Works without WiFi networks. Good range for short distances. Compatible with almost all Android devices.

⚡ WiFi Direct

Significantly faster than Bluetooth. Better for large files like images. Works without a WiFi router.

Honest About Limitations

We believe in being transparent:

  • Range depends on the number of participating devices nearby
  • Background operation varies by Android version and device
  • iOS support is planned but not yet available
  • Message delivery is not guaranteed in sparse areas

Our Mission

We are building a communication layer that works even when infrastructure does not — for remote areas, emergencies, festivals, protests, or simply for people who value privacy.

Zylo is the beginning of a larger vision: every participating smartphone becomes part of a private, resilient communication network.
